Vista Volunteer Opportunity

The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic is looking for two AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers to help with our development efforts; specifically raising funds & awareness within the Austin community.  Some of the main activities include:

VISTA Volunteer #1:  Special Event Planning and Promotion
  • Assisting with our  50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala in late 2016 
  • Identifying and coordinating other small fundraisers 
  • Creating promotional materials
  • Social Media coverage - Facebook, Twitter, etc.

VISTA Volunteer #2:  Communications and Fundraising
  • Create a Social Media Plan
  • Quarterly Newsletters and e-communications 
  • Research new grants 
  • Grant writing and grant reporting assistance


The AmeriCorps VISTA Program is designed to function as a stateside Peace Corps, which places high quality, dedicated individuals in poverty facing non-profit organizations throughout the country.  AmeriCorps VISTA is one of many programs through the Corporation for National and Community Service. Over the course of the year, VISTA Members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $486. VISTA Members serve on a full-time basis for one full calendar year. Upon completion of Service, VISTA Members are eligible to receive $5,775 Education Award or $1,500 cash 
stipend.

  • Child Care Assistance

  • Non-Competitive Eligibility for Federal Employment 

Qualifications:
  • College Graduate 
  • At Least 18 Years Old
  • Commitment to National Service and solutions to poverty
  • Interest in learning about the workings of free and reduced healthcare systems.
