Meet the Team
Marci Roe
Executive Director Ms. Roe has a bachelor's degree in business from the University of North Texas and over 20 years experience in business and non-profit management. After 13 years in the corporate world, she left her job as a Senior Project Manager and Vice President at First USA Bank to join the Peace Corps, where she did business development work for a women's development center in Nepal. Upon her return, she made a career change to the non-profit sector and has been working in various roles at the Clinic until her appointment as Executive Director in February, 2010. She has been with the Clinic since April, 2006. |
Laura Hurst
Director of Volunteers Laura oversees the Clinic's volunteer program since 2012. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University, Bloomington with a double major in Art History and Religious Studies. She grew up in Cincinnati and has lived in New Jersey, Bloomington, Indiana and Chicago. She moved to Austin four years ago. Her professional background is in the restaurant and hospitality industry, but she has always enjoyed volunteering at museums and free medical clinics. She started volunteering at the Clinic in 2011 as a data entry volunteer, and was hired as a part-time Volunteer Coordinator in October 2012. In January 2015 Laura was promoted to a full-time position of the Volunteer Director In her spare time she enjoys travelling, seeing live music, visiting museums and spending time with her friends and family. |
Silvia Nunez-Reyes
Program Director and Individual Giving Silvia was born and raised in Austin, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at St. Edward's University. She is the first in her family to graduate from college and did so with high honors. She enjoys helping others and is bilingual in Spanish. She has volunteer work experience helping the community through St. Louis Catholic Church and the local police department. During her free time she enjoys photography, reading, attending local events and listening to live music. |
Andrea Martinez
Office Manager Andrea joined the VHC team in March 2021. She is originally from Eagle Pass, TX, a small city on the Texas-Mexico border. She graduated in 2020 from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s of Science & Arts in Human Development & Family Sciences, on the pre-medical track. Andrea plans to apply to medical school in the future and pursue a career in medicine. Her call to work at VHC was inspired by her personal experiences with healthcare growing up in an underserved area. She values the work the clinic does for the community and aims to contribute to VHC’s efforts in continuing to provide quality healthcare services to our patients. When not working, Andrea enjoys going for walks/runs along Lady Bird Lake, cooking, & spending time with her loved ones. |
Juan Renteria
Patient Advocate Juan was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After high school, he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish Language and Literature with a minor in English and Mathematics. He worked as a Personal Banker at Bank of America for 5 years before venturing into other roles within Travis County and the State of Texas. Juan joined the VHC family in August of 2020 and values the work that the clinic does for our central Texas community. He also enjoys traveling and learning new languages. |
Jarintzi Tovar
Office Assistant Jarintzi volunteered as an interpreter in 2017 while finishing her medical interpreter certificate program at UT. She was immediately charmed by the Volunteers Healthcare Clinic's believes, interactions, and attitudes towards the Austin community. She is highly excited to be part of the VHC family. She believes that the VHC family has an admirable work environment and diversity of culture. She enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music and dancing in her spare time. |
Mara Eccles
Laboratory Technician Mara has a national certification in phlebotomy and recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Physics. She started volunteering at VHC as a phlebotomist in September of 2019, and is excited to return to VHC since the lab has reopened. Mara is currently going to classes to become an EMT and is in the process of applying to medical school. In her free time, she enjoys playing with animals, painting, and running. |
Dillon Wisocki
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Specialist Dillon was born and raised in Austin, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health. He works full-time at the American Cancer Society and volunteered as a EMR Superuser at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic prior to joining our staff. Dillon hopes to pursue a career in medicine in the future. He has previous volunteer experience at Dell Children's Medical Center and went on a medical mission-trip to Nicaragua in 2016 setting up free healthcare clinics with Global Medical Training. In his free time, Dillon enjoys reading, cooking, staying physically active, fishing, and seeing live music. |
Lori Gonzalez
Physician Assistant Lori Gonzalez is a Physician Assistant with over 12 years of medical experience. She has worked in family medicine with obstetrics, pediatrics, and asthma/allergy clinic. She holds a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Texas San Antonio. She is fluent in Spanish. She enjoys educating patients on the importance of healthcare and advocating for one’s health. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs. She likes to go hiking, cooking, exercising, and gardening. She is delighted to join the VHC team! |

Nancy Guillet
MSN, RN, Medical Case Manager Nurse and Charge Nurse, Chronic Disease Management Clinic
Nancy was a practicing physician in general medicine and surgery in her home country of Nicaragua and brings a wealth of medical knowledge with her. Upon moving to the U.S. six years ago, she completed her nursing degree and went on to earn an Advanced Public Health Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She currently works as an instructor in clinical nursing at the UT's School of Nursing. Nancy volunteered as an interpreter and as a nurse at the Clinic while she completed her schooling. She recently joined the VHC staff in June, 2011. Nancy works with many community organizations for health promotion programs among Latinos in Austin. She enjoys listening classical music.

Elizabeth Washington
MSN, R.N., Charge Nurse, Walk-In Clinic Elizabeth graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Masters Degree in Public Health Nursing in 2012 and is a Registered Nurse. Following a desire to improve the lives for those living with Diabetes, she became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2014 and is currently the Chronic Disease Manager at Peoples Community Clinic. Elizabeth has a passion to serve the community and promote healthier lives for individuals living in under-served areas. Elizabeth has lived in Austin nearly all of her life and has deep family roots to the city that extends over many generations. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, reading, traveling, and serving in her church. Elizabeth joined the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic in February, 2017. |
Jill Taormina
BSN, R.N., Charge Nurse, Walk-In Clinic Jill is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Rhode Island College. She has worked in a federally qualified health center setting for over five years, serving first as a nurse care manager providing direct patient care, as well as education on self-management of chronic conditions. She then became the Director of Nursing overseeing six clinical sites. Jill recently relocated to Austin from Rhode Island. In her free time, she enjoys jogging, travel, and spending time with her family. Jill Joined the Volunteer Healthcare clinic in February, 2019. |
Andrew H. Stone
MSN, R.N., Charge Nurse, Walk-In Clinic Mr. Stone served in the United States Air Force for 7 years as a combat medic and went on to earn a BS in Computer Science from Boise State University in 2002. He worked at various tech companies in Boise and Austin for 5 years before his acceptance into nursing school. Mr. Stone graduated from the UT School of Nursing in 2011 with an MSN with a concentration in Nursing Administration and Healthcare Systems. Since earning his nursing degree, he has done clinical work in the Emergency Room and hospice settings. Mr. Stone joined the Clinic in September, 2013 and has a dual role as our Specialty Clinic Charge Nurse and technical support for our Electronic Medical Records transition and reporting needs. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, running and canoeing and home renovation projects. |
Dolores Flores
Monday Night Pharmacy Tech Dolores has been working as a pharmacy tech for 20 years and works during the day at Medical Park Tower pharmacy. She has been with the Clinic since 2000 as our Monday night pharmacy tech. She enjoys bike riding, movies, shopping and spending time with her family. |
Olivia Colunga
Thursday Night Pharmacy Tech Olivia has been a pharmacy technician since 1997 and received her training on the job at what was then known as Eckerd drugs. She always knew she wanted to be in the medical field and thought about pursuing nursing, but it was being pharmacy tech that won out! Olivia has been with VHC since 2000. She is a native Texan who was born in Brownsville and moved to Austin when she was eight. For fun, she enjoys listening to music and dancing. |
