The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic (VHC) offers general, acute, primary care for both children and adults in Travis County. When sick individuals are not able to obtain necessary care, loss of school days, jobs and income are often the result, which puts an even greater strain on the community's assistance networks. By providing uninsured adults and children a place to obtain healthcare, we help prevent the spread of infectious disease and the escalation of an illness. Preventive care also provides early detection for potentially serious diseases and reduces the use of hospital emergency rooms for routine care, thus keeping medical costs down for the entire community.
In addition to acute primary care, the Clinic also provides Chronic Disease Management, limited behavioral health services, limited physical therapy services, medication assistance, social service referrals, several in-house specialty services and nutrition counseling. Children's well-child exams and sports physicals are offered on seasonal basis by appointment only.
The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic would not be possible without the support of local organizations and foundations. Through many community collaborations VHC is able to provide laboratory testing, radiological testing, specialty care and many other services. Learn more
