Well Women's Day – November 12th

Thanks to a continued partnership with the SAI Center of Austin, on November 12th, 37 women were provided a well woman's exam, cholesterol checks, glucose tests, mammogram appointments, vision vouchers, HIV screenings and flu shots at the Clinic. Approximately 25 volunteers from SAI, VHC and AIDS Services of Austin participated in the event. In addition to providing funding and volunteers for the event, the SAI Center gave each patient a pamper package filled with lotions, nail polish, soaps and various toiletries to help the women feel special. The SAI Center is a spiritual organization who approached the Clinic last year wanting to collaborate on special one day events. Since then we have held 3 successful Women's Wellness Fairs and have helped over 100 women receive these much needed services. We would like to thank all the VHC volunteers, the SAI Center, and AIDS Services of Austin for partnering with us to provide so many women with services they would otherwise go without.

45 years of Help, Healing and Hope

The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic hosted an Open House in October to celebrate 45 years of providing service to those who need it most, the uninsured and working poor residents of Travis County. Over 150 guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks and live music from Dr. Bill Howland and his band, Code Blue. Lora Ann Gerson presented the Clinic with a Senate Proclamation on behalf of Senator Kirk Watson’s Office and several speakers spoke about their experience with the Clinic, including a current patient of the Clinic. The evening also included a silent auction that helped raise over $5300 for the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic Endowment Fund.
